The Ariege and Aude Part 1

Update from Malana

We’ve spent the last couple of weeks in the Ariege and the Aude.  Two rural departments close to the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean but not exactly in either place.  We rented a gite (an apartment) on the square of Mirepoix a beautiful Medieval village that is known for it’s lively Monday morning market. You can find almost anything you need and many things you don’t need… some interesting things you can find are mattresses, live chickens and rabbits along with cheese, meat, fresh seafood, vegetables of all kinds and prepared foods.

Now, everyone knows the french allow dogs everywhere — but did you ever see anyone bring a pet goat to the market?

Some other great shots Roland took of Mirepoix with it’s medieval gate, wall central market hall and arcades.
