During our first 2 weeks — we managed to visit of one Les Plus Beaux Villages de France — the most beautiful villages in France. The village of Saint Guilhem-Le-Desert was founded in the 11th century by a cousin of Charlemagne. From what we understand — in the summer months, this village is so crowded with tourists that if you don’t get there by 10am — you can’t find parking. We arrived at noon — parked right in front of the village and as you’ll see from the pictures — had the village to ourselves. One of the many bonuses of traveling off-season.
