We visited Le Caylar in the region of Langeudoc-Rousillion in the beginning of our trip. The reason was — we were interesting in a chambre d’hote in the little village. While we were there, we visited some of the local sites. One of the most impressive was Le Roc Castel. The village was first founded by the Romans on the large rocky outcropping in the center of the plateau at about 2100 feet above sea level. This location provided the Romans and all citizens going forward with an amazing view across the country-side helping them to see any invading forces. On one of the many beautiful days in Le Caylar, Roland and I decided to climb to the top and have a picnic. As you will see from the pictures — it was amazing!
